| I know this is how we are meant to live and we are so far from it at home. Most of my senses have strengthened. I can see clearer at night, hear something approaching from further away, smell the least little bit of something otherwise hidden, and feel a weather change before it happens. I am visually aware of more things at a time: sun placement, wind direction and recording of nature’s pattern around me. I’m aware because it directly effects my choices. If I need to dispose of my trash (burn it), the wind must be calm and the ground not too dry. August is the windy month, so I haven’t been able to rid my place of trash for weeks. My clothes needed washing on Thursday, but there was no rain and therefore no water to wash with until Sunday. I needed to charge my cell phone, but my solar battery was empty because it was overcast for a full day. Yet with my growing senses, I am getting better at working more closely in line with nature. Sharing life’s work load is nice. Maybe I’ve lost half the control, but in its place is a feeling of being more alive and at peace. Something I’ve never received from any plug-in appliance back home. |
